This and that
Posted August 20, 2004
It has been a while since I posted anything on this website. A lot of things have happened since the last entry including a trip to Argentina and the MobileCam you see on the right. The picture was taken with a Sony Ericsson T616 and transferred to this page without any user intervention. Source code and instructions to setup your own MobileCam coming soon...
Trip to zoo
Posted April 4, 2004
Spent the morning at Lowry Park Zoo. The weather was in the 70s and there were very few people at the zoo. It was the perfect outing. Customary pictures are here.
Goodbye traditional phone!
Posted March 5, 2004
I received my Vonage device today. Setup was a breeze and the voice quality seems the same as my land-line (soon to be disconnected). The seamless integration with my existing home network was unexpected. I simply connected the WAN port to my existing hub and powered up the box. Here is a diagram of the setup.
Death of an iPod
Posted February 29, 2004
What better to do in a leap year and in a leap day than to take apart an iPod. My friend Bernie graciously donated this device for the sake of science and the furthering of human understading of all things Apple. As I learned, the iPod is one heck of a solid device. It wasn't easy to disassemble it. It took a lot of hammering (literally) and a lot of prying with a screwdriver.
New Photos

Took a drive down to the infamous malfunction junction to take pictures of the construction work. This repair will fix the major traffic bottleneck at the junction of I-4 and I-275 in Tampa. The construction will be completed in 2006. Two more years of daily driving frustration for me! Click here for the photos.

Website Redesigned
Posted December 20, 2003
This website has undergone another metamorphosis. This is the fifth rendition of the original site which was published on an FTP server in 1993! My very first attempt had the URL of ftp://sunfish.eng.usf.edu/pub/sumit/. In hindsight, it was a really ugly setup, but a good learning experience. The whole 'web thingy' was a colossal waste of time according to some of my friends back then!!
¡Viva España!
Posted September 14, 2003
The land of bulls? I saw almost everything except for a bull-fight on this summer trip. My journey included visits to Madrid, Barcelona, Toledo and Segovia.
Updated Photo Gallery Script
Posted May 24, 2003Modified PHP script for generating online photo albums. The original script, called 'Nail Cutter', was written by Thomas Weinert. It is a simple yet effective program. You simply drop your photos in one folder and a browsable gallery is generated on the fly. Here is an example and here is the source code.
New Projects
Posted November 23, 2002Holy macros! 2002 is almost over. Where does the time fly? Anyway, I have added two new pages to this site. I intend to work on two projects in parallel. The first one involves building a mobile robot and the second - an in-dash computer for my Jetta. Both will share common components such as embedded linux and low-power hardware. I will post my progress on these pages regularly.
Euro-trip
Posted August 4, 2002It was that time of the year and an 'out of america' trip was long overdue. So, I decided to pack up and take off to europe; destination: Slovenia. Read the travelogue here.
Up, up and away!
Posted May 1, 2002Took to the skies with my friend Nick. We took off bright and early in the morning; into the hazy tampa bay skies. The weather conditions were excellent (except for the haze) and we flew from the Vandenburg airport to the Sunshine Skyway bridge and back.
(flying pics)Weekend in Atlanta

Sun 'N Fun
Posted April 8, 2002
Or you could call it 'too much sun' n fun! The City of Lakeland hosts this annual event where people from all over the country fly in. There are air-shows, experimental/commercial aircrafts on display and food (the whole spectrum starting from hot dogs and ending in corn dogs). I decided to check it out this year and got some airshow pictures.

New Camera Arrives
Posted Jan 6, 2002
I have finally obtained a digital SLR camera after much thought. It is a canon D30 and it appears to offer some impressive possibilities. I have already taken over a hundred shots and the detail in the images in amazing. It is a very similar interface to a traditional SLR camera which makes it a snap to use.

Birthday!
Posted Dec 29, 2001
Another year has passed and I have decayed a little more. No big deal :P I have major plans for the new year. They include elimination of world hunger, end of poverty, end to wars, discovery of cold fusion and most importantly - total world domination. "What are we going to do tonight, Brain?"
